There is nothing attached to the sea spider, it is just on a rock and there was some other stuff in the aquarium. To the best of my knowledge, the sea spider is not harmful. Apparently, critters have a tendency to grow larger in the cold waters around Antarctica. There are some sea lice which around the states are very small (a tick or smaller) but down here they find some the size of large insects.
Polar bears only live in the north and penguins only live in the south. It is very likely that we will see penguins but the sea ice is still too far out. In a few months as the ice starts to break up, we should see some adelie penguins and if we are lucky the Emperor penguin as well.
