National Geographic
That's right! Last week there was a photographer from National Geograhic out and about filming the cargo work at McMurdo. The film that he is making is about the new South Pole station which opened this year. One small part of the video is how they get all the stuff down to Pole. After watching me work, he decided to change the entire focus of the film and is now making a documentary about science teachers in Antarctica called Frozen Teachers (well, maybe not).
So in a few years, look for me on National Geographic in a loader behind a plane or in a pickle (a small green forklift) pulling stuff out of a millvan. There may be a brief glimpse of my face or dirty clothes.
Four More Days
We have four more days including today. We are definitely ready but will also miss the life down here. The first sunset in four months was last night at 1:38 AM, tonight it is at 1:04 AM. The light is starting to change in the dawn hours which makes for beautiful vistas.

Open Water
After the storm a few days ago, more of the sea ice blew out. There is still a few miles of sea ice between us and the ocean but it is slowly going out. I doubt that McMurdo will see open water this year but it is neat to see the ice start to melt and break away from the land. This picture is from one of the hills outside of McMurdo.
